What should you look for when comparing quotes on timber frame home kits?

All of our house designs also show an indicative cost for a building that home in your area. While you can, of course, build any of our designs in the traditional bricks-and-mortar method, building in timber frame is generally more economical in terms of both materials and labour.
Following recent changes in legislation, the minimum thermal requirements for construction have changed. England, Scotland and Wales each have different levels you must achieve as indicated in the table below:
Element | England | Wales | Scotland |
Walls | 0.30 W/m²K | 0.21 W/m²K | 0.25 W/m²K |
Floors | 0.20 W/m²K | 0.18 W/m²K | 0.20 W/m²K |
Roof | 0.20 W/m²K | 0.15 W/m²K | 0.18 W/m²K |
Windows, Doors & Rooflights | 2.00 W/m²K | 1.60 W/m²K | 1.80 W/m²K |
We work with a number of timber frame manufacturers so that we can offer a number of solutions to give wall u-values as low as 0.11 W/m²K. These include:
- Open Panel Systems
- Factory Fitted Systems
