Radon barrier detail: This external-wall drawing shows how a gas-resistant membrane beneath a ground-bearing floor should connect continuously with the damp-proof course.
The detail coordinates the facing brickwork, cavity insulation, blockwork inner leaf, floor construction and concrete foundation. It includes a gas-resistant radon DPC, a minimum 150mm sealed perimeter lap, proprietary gas-tight tape and a top-hat collar around service penetrations.
External paving is maintained below DPC level, while lean-mix cavity fill falls towards the outer leaf. The arrangement helps prevent radon or ground moisture bypassing the protective membrane. It is suitable where ground-gas protection is required, subject to the site-specific assessment and membrane manufacturer’s instructions.
