TB/21 – 600 mm High Projecting Brick Plinth

This brick plinth detail illustrates a typical 600 mm high projecting facing-brick plinth beneath a recessed external wall.

It is intended for architectural designers, building professionals, contractors, developers and self-builders coordinating the masonry support, cavity protection and ground-floor junction. Important Information

This is a standard construction detail intended to provide general guidance. The plinth height, masonry dimensions, backing units, connections, foundation support and wall ties must be coordinated with the project’s structural design and selected materials.

The composite outer leaf must be fully supported by the foundation. Loose brick slips, unsupported cut blocks and unbonded masonry offcuts should not be used to form the backing.

Foundation dimensions and depths must be confirmed to suit the site and ground conditions. The drawing does not include structural calculations, ground investigation, thermal assessment or Building Regulations approval.
