TR-14 – Eaves Detail: Pitched Cold Roof

This construction drawing shows a typical eaves junction between a pitched cold roof and a rendered masonry cavity wall.

The detail illustrates the roof trusses or rafters, wall plate, ceiling-level mineral-wool insulation, ventilated loft, roofing underlay, fascia, soffit, gutter and proprietary eaves ventilation. It demonstrates how the ceiling insulation should extend over the wall plate to meet the cavity-wall insulation while preserving an unobstructed ventilation path above.

Roof-member sizes, insulation thicknesses, ventilation provision and fixing requirements must be coordinated with the structural design, energy assessment, condensation-risk assessment and roofing-product manufacturers’ instructions.
