TR-05 – Internal Loadbearing Wall with Ground-Bearing Slab

This internal loadbearing wall slab detail shows a typical masonry wall supported on its own foundation where it passes through an insulated ground-bearing floor construction.

The drawing illustrates the relationship between the loadbearing wall, concrete floor slab, rigid insulation, damp-proof/radon membrane, compacted hardcore and concrete foundation. It provides a clear reference for maintaining the structural load path while coordinating the floor finishes and moisture-protection layers around the wall base.

The foundation size and depth must be confirmed for the actual wall loads and ground conditions. Block strength, concentrated loads, openings and structural reactions should be verified by the project’s structural engineer where applicable.
