TR-16 – Eaves Detail: Pitched Warm Roof with Vaulted Ceiling

This construction drawing shows the eaves junction for a pitched warm roof incorporating a vaulted or sloping ceiling.

The detail illustrates rigid insulation fitted between the rafters with a continuous insulated layer beneath, together with the plasterboard lining following the roof slope. It demonstrates how the roof insulation should pass over the wall plate and connect with the cavity-wall insulation to maintain a continuous thermal envelope at the eaves.

Rafter sizes, insulation thicknesses, ventilation, vapour control and roof coverings must be coordinated with the structural design, approved energy calculation, condensation-risk assessment and manufacturers’ installation requirements.
