Safety glazing locations: This illustrated drawing identifies the areas of glass that require impact-resistant safety glazing to reduce the risk of injury in residential buildings.
The guide covers three common critical locations: glazing within doors up to 1500mm above finished floor level, glazing within 300mm of a door and up to 1500mm above floor level, and low-level glazing positioned within 800mm of the finished floor. Hatched areas make each safety-glazing zone easy to identify and apply to project drawings.
Accompanying notes specify appropriately classified toughened or laminated safety glass manufactured to the relevant British Standards, together with permanent marking in accordance with BS 6262-4. This detail is suitable for residential Building Regulations drawing packages and provides a quick reference for designers, builders, window suppliers and Building Control officers. For statutory guidance, see Approved Document K on GOV.UK, or review our related guarding detail.
