Steel beam bearing detail: This construction drawing coordinates a structural steel beam, concrete padstone and proprietary fire-protection enclosure within residential masonry.
The bearing detail shows the beam centred on a suitably designed padstone and fully bedded on sound load-bearing construction. It identifies minimum end bearing, high-strength non-shrink grout or engineered steel shims, while excluding unsuitable loose packing materials.
The fire-protection section shows a continuous board enclosure installed as a tested proprietary system. Notes cover board layers, joint treatment, fixings, lateral restraint, corrosion protection and fire-stopping at junctions, connections and bearings. Beam size, grade, padstone dimensions and structural connections must be confirmed by the structural engineer.
