Fire stopping service penetrations: This comprehensive drawing shows how pipes, cables, trays and ventilation ducts can be sealed where they pass through fire-resisting construction.

Four arrangements cover metal pipes and cables through walls, combustible pipes through walls or floors, multiple services within fire-stop batt systems, and ducts through compartment walls. Tested components include fire-resistant sealants, mineral-fibre backing, fire-stop batts, intumescent collars and fire dampers.

The notes address annular gaps, mechanical fixing, service spacing, independent supports and access for inspection. All materials must form a complete tested system suited to the substrate, service, aperture and required resistance period. The sheet also highlights inspection, photography, recording and labelling before concealment.
